Desi is currently working on her bird skills - Dan and Randy Boggs of Snowridge Vizslas are working on breaking our Diva for Gundog work. She is going to be fun to run!
There are many things to love about Desi and boy do we love them all. She is a very sweet bitch who will melt at your feet for a tummy rub. Desi loves everyone equally, except maybe for Baby E :) She loves him the most!
What do we love most about Desi? She is a very fair and honest bitch without a mean bone in her body. Since I have been fostering dogs and puppies for rescue I have only begun to understand this part of her personality. Desi is the ultimate puppy raiser. She is fair and honest, but quick to correct and enforce the rules with her body language and a good stare. Oh how Desi loves to follow rules! She makes sure that my whole house follows the rules.... she makes sure every one and every dog is honest.
Desi is a great combination of softness and toughness. She is a sensitive dog who is as tough as nails. Desi forgives a correction instantly and continues on working. She is extremely biddable, highly intelligent and you rarely have to teach her something twice. When Desi does something, she always gives it her all.

Desi's Story
LOL! Desi's story is very familiar in the world of Vizslas! After Tru came home and bonded to Dan I immediately decided that I needed my own vizslas (like I needed another hole in my head! LOL!) I had met Jim & Linda's Chevee and really like her personality, the fact that she is slight and her performance in the field. At this time Dan and I were getting our feet wet in the Field stuff and I wanted a dog that had even more field potential then Tru. I talked to Linda and found out that they had plans to breed Chevee to Rob Tomczak's Zorro. Oooooh I just had to have one of these pups who were destined to be devils! My name went on the list and I had second pick female. I could not wait to get my hands on this little girl...
While waiting for Chevee to be bred, Dan and I found out that we were expecting a baby of our own! We had a lot to decide then... should we or shouldn't we go ahead and get this highly anticipated pup. After many long discussions with Jim & Linda and other multiple dog owner's we decided that it was the right time to get this pup. Our wait continued as it took longer for Chevee to come into season then expected.
Then the day came! On August 2, 2004 Chevee delivered four females and two males.
With field work in mind, our (or should I say my) selection of this pup was a bit different. I still knew that I did not want any white (and none of the girls had any), but the rest was up in the air. Linda, Dan and I took the puppies out with the wing and string and all of the puppies had beautiful points on them but then one little bitch broke out of the pack, ripped the wing off the string and ran away with it - she would not let any of her littermates near. I knew right then that I just had to have this fiery little devil girl. Desi came home with us on my birthday weekend as a present from Dan.
Since the moment she stepped into our home, Desi has ruled! She is definitely the alpha over Tru and he gladly accepts it, though the tables are turning now that Fire is here.... he is currently running the roost! Desi is scary smart and is a crazy little acrobat. Desi is my constant shadow and seems to have picked Ethan to bond too. It makes sense - Ethan's first sentence was, "Hi Desi!" as she came running into the room
Desi is a very independent, fiery bitch who is the sweetest dog I have ever known. She takes every job given to her very seriously and follows all of the rules. She is highly food motivated and very biddable, therefore very easy to train. She is a total joy and has brought so much into our home. She is everything and more!
Desi sailed through puppy class and basic obedience. I am hoping to start her in Rally obedience soon! She loves a good challenge but really prefers the structure of obedience to the craziness of agility. I have taken her through beginning agility classes.
Physically Desi has matured into an elegant, beautiful bitch with good bone and substance. She looks just like her mom! She moves very nicely and one judge commented that she absolutely floats on air when she moves. Desi is a spitfire in the ring with a bit of attitude thrown in for fun. She adores her handler Diane Engelking (and all of her crew) and gets spoiled rotten while on the road. Desi only needs one major to finish her bench title.
Out of all of our dogs, Desi is the best personal hunting dog. She is very in tune with you and hunts for you. She is breath taking on point and is very very intense. She is currently being broke for the Master Hunt Tests and for Gun Dog trials. Randy Boggs of Snowridge Vizslas and Dan are working together to accomplish this task.. She should accomplish this with her usual style and grace.
